friday feed: wings sauce

Confession: I love chicken wings. It’s a guilty pleasure. Sometimes (I think at least) regular hot wings are just too much. They are fried and greasy. All I want is a tasty, grilled treat. So, I’m sharing my favorite wing sauce. I’ll admit, it’s not my normal healthy recipe, but who’s counting calories on the 4th of July? :) This is a Something Detailed original. I’ve tried out many recipes and basically made up the most simple and tasty sauce. It’s a sweet and tangy sauce for grilled wings. Hope you all have a safe and happy 4th of July!



  • 1.5 sticks butter
  • 6 oz. chili sauce
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3 oz. hot sauce


Melt butter on low heat, then stir in chili sauce, hot sauce and ketchup. Slowly bring to a simmer and remove from heat. Start grilling your wings. When ready, toss in wings sauce and enjoy!


Cooking tip: Want them hotter? Start with the amount of hot sauce the recipe calls for and keep adding more until it has the hotness you require. Just make sure you taste along the way!
